Tips For Working With Fondant

Fondant is a mixture of sugar, water, cornstarch and food coloring and is used as a decorative topping for cakes, cookies and cup cakes. Decorating baked goods with fondant is easy with these tips.
*Allow baked goods to cool completely before applying fondant.
*Keep excess fondant wrapped in plastic wrap until needed to prevent it from drying out.
*Work with fondant in a cool room and on a cool surface.
*If fondant gets hard, microwave for a few seconds to soften.
*Fix cracks by kneading a small amount of fresh fondant into crack.
*Apply a thin layer of butter cream to baked goods before applying fondant.
